Section 3 - Weekly Activity Logs

WEEK 1 - Began researching and writing Backup/Recovery Procedures for legacy DOS and Windows 3.1 manufacturing systems, as well as a large MS SQL 2000 Database.  Assisted in assessing Legacy and Enduring automation systems for FDA regulatory compliance.  (Note: Both of these items lasted the entire summer, these were the focus of my work.).  Attended marketing meeting at the EREN Corporation offices.

WEEK 2 - Assisted in applying network and local security to a networked process automation system.  This system included 8 computers and about 10 Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).  This project included third party software configuration, registry editing, and user management.

WEEK 3 - Continued writing procedures for the Backup/Recovery of legacy systems.

WEEK 4 - Researched and developed Basic Code to run in Operator Terminal used to interface with a weight scale.  The code was very similar to true basic, with line numbers and goto statements, however it had its own syntax and code requirements.

WEEK 5 - Continued assessing legacy and enduring automation systems.

WEEK 6 - Started development of a Legacy Validation project for a labeling system.  This included writing a system specification and a formal system qualification test plan.

WEEK 7 - Continued Legacy Validation Project with my supervisor.

WEEK 8 - Continued writing procedures for Backup/Recovery of legacy systems.  Attended marketing meeting at the EREN Corporation offices.

WEEK 9 - Executed Testing for upgrading the time synchronization software used to sync the network's time with a GPS satellite.

WEEK 10 - Executed Testing for upgrading service packs on dedicated production machines that run specialized software.

WEEK 11 - Completed Backup/Recovery Procedure for the MS SQL 2000 Database system using VERITAS.

WEEK 12 - Started Training for RSView 32 a specialized software package that allows development of Operator Interface Terminals.  Continued Backup/Recovery Procedures for Legacy systems.

WEEK 13 - Completed Backup/Recovery Procedures for legacy systems.  Continued but did not finish assessing legacy and enduring automation systems for compliance.
