CAREER ADVICE FOR CURRENT CS STUDENTS

I feel that all the classes and course work I have done in my undergraduate career helped me during my internship.  The class that benefited me the most was CS 474, Database and Design.  This, as you might have figured, is due to the number of database projects that I worked on.  Also, all the classes that I took (CS and non-CS) that made me make a presentation, definitely benefited me, because it allowed me to get up and speak to people in meetings and interact with workers and clients as if I were an associate.  I feel that I have always had great interpersonal skills, however, some people are not as comfortable speaking in front of people or making a presentation, so I would recommend them taking an interpersonal class which is offered by the Business School.

There were many employees within KPMG that were pursuing certifications.  KPMG is known for its accounting, so there were many employees that were pursuing their CPA's (Certified Public Accountant).  Within the RAS branch, there were many employees pursuing the CISA (Certified Information Systems Auditor).  There were also many employees who were also taking classes to pursue their masters or MBA.

The only advice I have left as far as being prepared for the professional world is to enjoy college while you can.  I suggest that everyone enjoy their time in college, and take advantage of the multiple resources provided for you through the university, such as career services and professors
