Section 4 - Career Advice
Work in the Information Risk Management (IRM) practice at KPMG is much less technical than some computer science students may be used to. The most important skills needed on the job are good communication skills. An internship at KPMG is best for people that like to analyze business processes and write reports rather than write computer code.
Classes to take
The classes that I took in writing and technical communication were the most useful for my internship at KPMG. Computer science classes provided me with a nice working knowledge of computer technologies, but I did not need to know much about programming languages.
Certifications at KPMG
The two most popular certifications in the IRM practice at KPMG are the Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) and the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP). Some people also pursue a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification.
