Section 3.0 - Daily Activity Log
For the past two summers, I have kept a daily work log for several reasons. I often discovered there were days when I would get to work in the morning and forget what I was working on the afternoon before. By keeping a log, I could track my accomplishments and always know exactly where I left off. Anytime I received instruction from my superiors or mentor, I would immediately make notes in my log, so I wouldn't lose focus on my goal. I also kept a record of any interesting nuances in the technology for future reference or to share at developer's meetings.
My log also contained a lot of personal comments, usually feelings about the task at hand. Some days my log showed a lot of frustration, and other days it was a gateway to express euphoria over recent success. Writing software can be grueling, exacting, and aggravating; but in the end, the reward far out weighs the distress encountered.
