Courses at a University only get you so far. In my view the best way of preparing yourself for a career in Computer Science is two parts: learn as much as you can in your University courses and get an internship. This will prepare you for the theory and basic aspects of computer science through courses at a University and the practical applications through the internships. You will also gain valuable skills that are needed in a job environment. Internships provide a short-term way of learning the professional skills that employers are looking for.

During the course of completing my internship I had to install and setup Windows 2003 servers. I also had to hardened the network as much as I could. So, the courses that help me in this were CS460 and CS482 (Selected Topics in Information Security). CS460 taught me the basics of networking. I worked setting up, configuring, and securing Windows 2003 servers in CS482. Those were the main courses that I helped the most during this internship.
