Activity Log

A typical day...

6/6 – 6/7

I worked on creating inspection invitations and reviewing the code. When we were reviewing the code we made sure that they were free of errors and warnings that the compiler generated. Creating the inspection invitations was very time consuming because it required us to located and compile various files that were needed for the inspection invitation. We also went to an “all hands meeting” which involved everyone from our area working on the ERAM project. One of the presenters was from Lockheed Martin. She discussed the time table of the project and how we were doing compared to the other projects involved with the upgrade of the FAA’s flight systems. We are not experiencing as many setbacks or delays like other groups are. Our project manager also presented new timelines and schedules for the project. He also discussed incentives to finishing the project by the necessary due date.

This day had me doing all sorts of things...

7/28

Continued to do a variety of routine tasks. We needed to update the waivers to be in the correct format so that they can be identified using the –grep utility in UNIX. We also did data analysis of the time and completion schedule to make sure that tables were in sync and correct. This was later used to create a large poster with the timeline of the work to be completed.

Worked with C++ creating a driver. Had difficulty setting up the compiler though eventually got it running with the updated build. Found it difficult to create code based on a pre-existing program (i.e. source code from the ERAM project). We analyzed data on the 23 different sectors of flight tracking for ERAM. This involved checking the trajectory/angle of a plane coming into airspace. This would then be used to determine which printer the data will go to the right flight center.
